Welcome back to the blog, dear readers! Today I’m sharing a preview of the newborn session I had with Hayven (doesn't she have a beautiful name?!), who was welcomed into this big world on December 7th to Ashley and Darin. As you can imagine, Mom and Dad are equal parts exhausted and delirious with their sweet baby girl, and I feel so lucky to have been given the chance to be a (small!) part of their parenthood journey. Going into the session, Ashley said she felt GREAT! "Michelle has been doing this for years and is very knowledgeable about photographing newborns and how to handle them and has so much patience!! At the beginning of the session she walked me through what to expect, safety points and transitioning poses, which was super helpful as the mom!". All turned out brilliantly, as you can see from the images I was able to capture that day. Mom's main piece of advice to making sure all goes off without a hitch? “Choose a photographer that you trust. Have patience and be flexible” said Ashley. I totally agree with that advice!

Welcome back, all! I am behind on blogging, because you know life. This snow and unfavorable weather has me dreaming of the warm summer evenings and beautiful golden light. However, because we live in MN a nice warm studio is a must. Studio sessions never disappoint either. Back in December I had a fantastic session with the Rauch family. I've said it before and I'll say it again – I truly have the best clients ever! This family was no exception, either. Becca and Chris are always game for my ideas on shoots and suggestions on clothing. The kiddos have a ton of personality that comes through the lens, giving me extra warm fuzzies to the cold and dreary winter days For our shoot, the Rauch's brought just themselves for their session. After their pre-consult about their session and Becca asking what I had for ideas on clothing there was nothing else that was needed. You see part of Michelle Towne Photography is discussing clothing- most times I do say "KEEP IT SIMPLE" Start with the person who has the LEAST amount of options to choose from in the closet then build from there. In order not to "date" your session, try to stay away from logos and anything too "in" for the colors. Classic and classy. Becca says "Choosing an outfit was always super easy when booking with Michelle. She was always full of ideas and always reminded us to keep it simple." Props- unless it is something that is special to you, your family or your child there is no need to bring things. Remember your coming to get photos done of your family/ child not the props. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean we don't incorporate things into our sessions. Becca and Christ say: "For our sessions, Michelle supplied ALL the props. It was GREAT! There are always SO many things to worry about when taking the kids out and about (ensuring they are fed, clothes and hair are halfway presentable, blankies are packed, etc), so it was WONDERFUL not to have to worry about anything beyond our "normal-hurry up and get yourself our the door" gear! Michelle has a wide variety of props, ensuring to match the personalities of those who she is photographing." It truly was an amazing photo shoot. They were well prepared for the session by taking my advise prior to arriving. And if any of you are considering a family session or are prepping for an upcoming session, heed the words of Becca: “BREATHE. Michelle takes over from the moment you walk into her studio/ location of the shoot. Messy hair? Michelle has that covered. Forgot your prop? She has adorable ones to use! Not sure what to wear? Michelle will remind you less is more. Kid just got their outfit messy? No worries, diaper shots are adorable! Overtired or hyper kid? Michelle has the personality to entertain them and change that (hey, bribery works, too and she has that covered as well)! Relax. The pictures will be beautiful, the kids will be entertained by Michelle and everything will turn out amazing!” she says. Solid advice! Okay, on to most recent pictures of the Rauch family! |
